Week 36: Week of Miracles, People!!!

K I'll just go in chronological order.

We had a totes m'gotes fun Pday. We got to go to COSTCO SLASH THE TERRESTRIAL KINGDOM and get some goodies. Then we played some volleyball with our district. I used to hate playing sports with people. But now I know how to enjoy myself. I just scream at everything that's going on and comment on everything. I love sports!!!!

So we had a lesson with our investigator, Kayla. Her husband is a less active member who hasn't come to church since he got baptized when he was 18 and she is taking the lessons and has been coming to church with her girls. Her 12 year old is going to girls camp this week YAS and we have been trying for A MONTH to set her with a baptismal date and every time we go over we are climbing other hurdles. SO. On Thursday we had a lesson with her and after 2 HOURS OF TEACHING WE SET HER WITH A BAPTISMAL DATE FOR AUGUST 20 BREAKING NEWS!!! Seriously we have been praying for this moment. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. On Sunday she came to church, and after church we were talking and she says to me, "So this morning I was reading the Book of Mormon and I just felt really good, and I feel really good about being baptized August 20" and I was like, "KAYLA EMBRACE ME!!!!!!!" And we hugged it out and I was trying not to bawl tears of joy. THIS IS HUGE!!!!!!! And her hubs is warming up too. The other day he asked, "So what do they wear at church?" All casually. Awwww yeah we know whachu thinkin you comin to church next Sunday!!!! Ugh so amazing.

Next Miracle.

A few months ago we went over and saw a former investigator named Kenna. She had been through 3 sets of missionaries and she is kinda non committal. And her life is literally a bucket of health and other probs. We talked to her and committed her to read the Book of Mormon for 1 minute every day. We text her and call her and we have been trying to meet with her, and finally we got to see her this week. She's been reading every day since we've seen her BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. We had a 2.5 HOUR LESSON WITH HER and talked about faith, repentance, baptism, Holy Ghost, the works. It was seriously amazing and she totally felt the spirit even though she was sippin on a glass of wine the whole lesson hahaha. She is totally in it to win it. We are going over tonight to clean her house (Sister Hayes and I have literally turned into the free cleaning brigade) and having a lesson. OH MY GOSH and then during our lesson like 5 times she was like, "Wow. After you said that I totally just got this feeling like warm and fuzzy and I know it's true." KENNA THAT IS THE HOLY GHOST GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!

Next Miracle.
We went over to a former investigator's house. His dad answered the door and said he had to leave and he wasn't going to be converted but we gave him a pamphlet and asked if we could come by later. We didn't think he would keep the return appointment, but we went back anyways. We knock and his girlfriend answered the door and was like come on in sisters!! I was like WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. They SAT US DOWN, TURNED OFF THE TV, AND GAVE US THEIR FULL ATTENTION. I was literally unconscious at this point. How in the world was I supposed to teach a lesson? The spirit of God. That's how. 2 HOURS LATER (what is it with 2 hours lessons this week?!?!) and we taught them the restoration and they had a billion questions and they were amazing and they committed to read and pray and I was like DO IT GOD LOVES YOU. And the best moment was when my baby Sister Hayes talked about Joseph Smith, showed them the picture, and looked into their eyes and recited the 1st vision, just like we had role played. That was a proud mom moment right thur. After we were so excited we got in the car and called the AP's and they said "hello?" and I just screamed for a solid 10 seconds. Lolz.

OK THERE ARE MORE MIRACLES.

We fasted on Sunday for some blessins. It worked. We really wanted to see our investigator, and we prayed, and then we texted her, and then she said, "wanna come over for dinner tonight?" We were there for hours and got to talk, and we also had 2 dinners but it was ok because we had been fasting!

Aight peace and blessings!

Week 35: MY PEOPLE & Lil Sebastian

I have a testimony of NOT LYING. Last Monday we were at emails and 2 sisters were talking about how they needed a haircut. I don't know why but I volunteered myself and said that I know how to cut hair...? If shaving my barbie's heads counts then I am totes a hairstylist. Then the elders start raggin on me like THEY ALWAYS DO saying, "Sister Harmon has no idea how to cut hair." So I got all puffed up and said how experienced at hair-cutting I am. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!? The sisters got all excited and said they would buy some nice scissors and I was going to cut their hair that night. Right before going home, we went to a member's house who does my hair and I got a quick lesson on how to cut hair. I have never prayed so hard in my life. Their hair looks amazing and I even gave them layers so guess what have faith and the Lord will provide!!!!...at least this time He did…

So far I have seen 3 people from back home out here. There is a couple living in our complex and the wife looked so familiar, and we found out that we were in the same ward my freshman year!! Small world.

Oh my goodness. The elders. We show up to district meeting and they're like, "Sisters, we are going to have a competition of eating oreos the fastest!" Sounds fishy already. I pulled the "can't have sugar" card and got out my camera to watch Sister Hayes eat something that was poisoned. Toothpaste. Classic.

Yesterday was BEAUTIFUL. We were in charge of sharing time at church, and the topic was pioneers and temples. We watched a movie about John Moyle, who walked 27 miles to work on the temple, even with a wooden leg. It was so nostalgic!! It made me think back to when I went with the YSA ward and did the same walk he did. Children are hilarious and ridiculous. Junior primary did not appreciate that video. Afterward I asked, "Did you like that video?" And 4 of them shouted "NO!!" HAHAHA. Then we were talking about how he had to walk the 27 miles. One kid said,
"Why didn't he just drive?"
"They didn't have cars back then."
"Did he have money?"
"Yes he did."
"Well then he should have bought a car!!"
Sound logic.

Our investigator Kayla and her girls came to church. Ugh I love them so much I am going to adopt them when I go home. They have been going through a rough time (story of our lives) and we hadn't been able to see her for a week or so. When we finally came over she was in tears and said, "Just don't give up on me ok?" um NEVER.

Last night we were trying to figure out what to do with our evening. We felt like we should go over and see this referral we had already contacted. She is SUPER nice, and a month ago we went and talked with her at her door and she was so sweet but said she wasn't interested because she was Lutheran. Then we felt like we should go over and just say hi a couple weeks later. They were busy but she said we could come back. We went over last night and stayed for 2 HOURS PEOPLE and talked and talked about faith, The Proclamation, and then gave her the Book of Mormon and she's gonna read Alma 32 WUT IT DO!!! She is so amazing. I love her.

K I'm out, peace and blessings <3
